Why Traders Should Have A Great Relationship With The Market

A Trader’s Relationship

Relationships, are all about connection. The dictionary definition is: a state of being connected. The question is, do you have a great connection with the market? Are you connected with the market? How can a trader connect to the market?.. You know,  I believe connections are all about understanding. In romantic relationships, most people who end up in shattered relationships or heart-breaks (not trying to be insensitive) are usually—due to lack of understanding. Similarly, in any other relationship.. including between siblings, mother-daughter, father-son.. Likewise, trading.

Having a connection with the market means you understand the market to a certain level were: communication also takes place.

In addition, the market communicates—your job as a trader is to listen and understand. As traders, we all want to have healthy relationships, but most of us were never really taught about what that actually means. Aside communication, a tip to keeping a healthy relationship is: flexibility.

In this article, you’ll learn what it means to have a healthy relationship with the market, What is needed and how to keep it. However, can you spot a good relationship? Of course not, no trader can tell who exactly is in the market and what they are all doing. But, here’s the trick: you don’t really have to know all that. The market is great at the show and tell business—your job as a trader is: to observe and listen. Good relationships don’t happen overnight. They take commitment, compromise, forgiveness and most of all — effort.

Do You Have  A Healthy Relationship With The Market?

Not a relationship expert but, I believe having a healthy relationship requires a lot of flexibility, commitment, and great communication-listening skills. Do you think a trader needs all these things? Yes they(we) do. If you are not flexible, then you find yourself marrying ideas.

Meaning, you have a plan, the market shows you something else but—you refuse to see eye-to-eye with her. Secondly, without commitment there’s no improving and Lastly, the market is ever communicating. She just needs a great listener for a partner. How can you be that when you don’t even know what she’s saying sometimes. Don’t get it twisted though she a Meany if you don’t listen; she takes. Man, does she take big!

In addition, having a great and healthy relationship begins with actually knowing her (the market). If you see a girl you like, there’s an attraction first right? But, that is usually not enough. You try to know this babe: to know if you guys will be compatible. Similarly, in trading, most come into the industry for the money but is that enough? I mean you have to know the perks of trading. To know if it’s what you want right?..

Listening is a skill. However, you can’t do that if you can’t tell what the market is saying. There are ways to find out:

  1. The structure
  2. The stage the market is in
  3. The little chart and candle stick patterns
  4. Lastly, The trend.

Finally,

I decided to help you and find ways in which you can grow that relationship. It’s one thing to have a relationship and another to be in a healthy long-lasting one. Why do you think breakup/divorce happens? Why do you think traders quit after two years or even 6 months? It’s because there’s no connection. How to tell if you have a connection or your relationship with the market is healthy, Three questions to ask yourself are: Are you in love? Do you listen and finally, do you have unrealistic expectations?

Most traders don’t love the art, they love what they can get from the art—which I find weird.

They end up not listening or they have weird unrealistic expectations. Honey, you won’t last week or year. If you don’t love the art, quit now! Don’t spend all those months, minutes, years hours on something you’ll give up on. It ain’t healthy babe. In conclusion, this week, I would like for you to start paying attention. Open your eyes, heart, and mind: listen and understand the language of the market. That way, you can have a great trading relationship with her.
